Exciting learning environments

to explore.

Little Elms Babies (6months - 16months)

Our baby room is a dedicated space specifically designed for our youngest children.  We have cots for the babies to sleep in as these are recommended as the best place for young children to sleep, by the Lullaby Trust.

We know that every baby has their own individual routine.  We are happy to spend time with parents and carers discussing a child's needs, wants and routines to ensure we provide a home from home environment which helps them to settle and most of all be happy.

There is lots of space for the babies to develop their large motor skills such as rolling, sitting, crawling and climbing.  They learn to communicate and socialise with their peers and  the adults in the room and this is where they develop their foundations for talking.

Sprouts Room
(17 months to 26months)

Exciting activities are available for children to access themselves with help from our dedicated team of staff who know and understand exactly what it's like to be under 2! There is free flow access to an outdoor space so there's plenty of room for the boundless energy of our youngest children.

While some are keen to investigate themselves, other children need reassurance and guidance as they begin to explore beyond the safety and security of their family. Building relationships and trust with new grown-ups can take time and we do this sensitively with guidance from parents and carers.

It's a time of life when everything is new and exciting! - learning is experiential, in the moment, hands-on and staff plan and respond to individuals interests and preferences.

Children are often beginning toilet training and staff happily work with families on this together with a good success rate!

We have a beautiful room specifically designed for our 2.5, 3 and 4 year olds, with very experienced and skilled educators. There are a whole range of exciting areas and activities for children to access independently, where children learn with help and guidance from the adults. There is also free flow access to the large outdoor area throughout the sessions, where play and learning continue hand-in-hand. There are quiet areas too, in which children can relax, enjoy a book and chat with a friend or retreat to if everything becomes a bit overwhelming, with sensitive support from staff.

Every child is in a smaller key group with a Key Person who gets to know each child really well. While all adults know and work with all the children, their key Person will be the adult who gets to know your child best and plans for their individual needs and keeps records of their learning. They are also the main point of contact for parents and carers and are available to talk with and share advice.

Outdoor Environment

The freedom of playing outdoors is great fun for young children – running, climbing, jumping and exploring –but it is also critical for their development which is why we have thought carefully about our outdoor area.

It is paramount that our children are given the opportunity to have quality outdoor experiences during the Pre-School day.   Playing outside is not all about being physical and developing gross and fine motor skills.  Our children can access all areas of the curriculum and investigate the natural environment while gaining self-confidence, resilience and problem solving skills.
